The Facility for Open Research in a Compressed Environment (FORCE) has the tools researchers need to explore the inner workings of planets.
Our equipment allows visitors to run experiments at extremely high pressures and temperatures and can accommodate the largest sample sizes in the United States.
Interdisciplinary research for desert plants and wildlife
ASU is an official partner of the Boyce Thompson Arboretum, Arizona's oldest and largest botanical garden.
The arboretum provides one-of-a-kind, hands-on experiences with desert plants, wildlife and ecosystems. Students, faculty and staff at ASU have developed resources and research to keep the desert oasis blooming.
New possibilities for coral reef conservation
Environmental stressors including rising temperatures threaten coral reefs, primarily through bleaching or the breakdown in the symbiosis between coral and algae that fuels coral reef growth.
ASU has been awarded $1.2 million by the National Science Foundation to investigate stress in coral-algal mutualistic symbiosis dynamics.
